June 2026 Fishing Report

Fishing Reports

People at all levels of fly fishing experience again joined us to benefit from our coaching  during June. As often happens at this time of year, when day time temperatures spike up, day time activity of trout goes down. So on the lakes, the morning has proved best in catching fish, while on the river, we have caught mainly PM, often during long evenings.

River fishing is providing sport to a mix of smaller dry flies and nymphs, presented on light tackle now. Knowing how to use this and when to be waterside are key during the summer. F flies, caddis,  shuttlecocks and deadhead PTN are good flies to have in size 14-20. Learn how to make the most of summer river fishing opportunities!

The hot weather made lake fishing tough for trout. Fortunately the extreme temperatures lasted only briefly and damsels, buzzers and dial bachs, produced fish for us during most of June. Fortunately the carp are often active during hot afternoons and willing to take a dry fly or nymph. A 1/2 day lesson is a great choice during July.

We look forward to seeing you.
