Despite summer being a sun bathers dream, our river fishing performed rather well. The low, clear, water conditions made the fish more wary. However, this was made up for by being able to spot the fish, study how they fed, and make appropriate presentations, with dry flies and nymphs. Yes it’s challenged our clients, that is how you learn, why they come, and everyone found it great fun!😃 Fishing light lines and small flies has been key to our success. Caddis, olives and terrestrial imitations being go to fly choices.
With September on the horizon, we look forward to Autumn’s fly fishing bounty. It’s our favourite season of the year! With slightly cooler temperatures and some rain forecast to freshen the water and the appetite of trout, the last few weeks of the river season are not to be missed. At the same time stillwater fishing will be on the up, just in time for our autumn courses and lessons.
We look forward to seeing you waterside!
