Fishing Reports

Spring river fly fishing for trout in England.

By late May rivers were fishing well, with good hatches including the start of the Mayfly season. Plenty of opportunities to dry fly fish, particularly during afternoons. Mornings have remained stubbornly chilly mostly, resulting in nymph fishing being most productive before an early lunch and good dry fly sport. June is looking very busy happily and we expect excellent sport to continue through the season. Our availability during June is minimal, however their are good opportunities during July and August. Good spring flow and water temperatures on the lakes mean good fishing. Many clients from beginner to improver have enjoyed catching quality rainbow and brown trout during lessons and courses with us at Loynton Lakes. Lessons are available daily at this venue and we have courses too, running June and July, then again through Autumn. For further information on both, please visit our lessons and courses page.

Almost daily trout are feeding in the top 3 feet targeting buzzers, mayfly and damsel fly nymphs along with small fry. They will often hit a dry fly from late morning and anglers are having a lot of fun with this, as some fish are impressive in how they take the fly to say the least right now.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
