Fishing Report December 2010

Fishing Reports

Lakes were frozen solid.

Lakes were frozen solid virtually all month

Fishing this December has been very sparse due to the extreme weather. Lakes froze solid during the first week and have remained so ever since with up to 6 inches of ice. Rivers however ran clear and for short spells some days the odd grayling showed interest, typically during early afternoon when temperatures where highest (sub zero mostly).

Consequently we postponed virtually all trips this month only venturing out ourselves for the occasional short spell riverside.

Looking forward 2011 is set to start with a bang fishing wise! Recent mild weather is gradually thawing out lakes everywhere, so expect a bonanza with trout and a chance of a whopper too. Shame it’s all going to happen just as everyone goes back to work, however if you have time be sure to hit the water. Here we have a number of trips backed up from last month, plus a few new bookings to kick off 2011.

As of January 1st our thoughts turn to spring, serious fly tying kicks in to stock fly boxes and trip plans are made for a new river trout season. However prior to that we have some cracking pike fly fishing! Trips are still available for our exclusive pike venue, with the peak fishing between February and early March. Trips are 2 anglers to 1 guide max as fishing is boat only, due to dense reedbeds and tree cover completely screening bank access. Contact us to arrange your trip!

Finally, a big thank you to everyone again for helping us make 2010 such a great success and wishing you all a happy New Year full of big fish!
