Thank goodness for our wonderful stillwater fly fishing during winter! At least we’ve been able to run lessons on days when the weather was not too extreme at our Loynton Trout Fishery base. Half day’s and casting lessons have been popular this month, though we had to reschedule a few due to conditions. Well it is February after all! I’m so looking forward to hosting more lessons and group events here again this spring.
The photo of the Derbyshire Wye above was taken early in February on a hike to check out any changes to the river over winter. As I write local rivers look very different, over their banks in full flood. Looks like an excuse for another good walk prior river season 2022 kicking off on March 18th. We will ultimately benefit from all this rain should we have a dry summer!
With spring around the corner we’ve been ensuring we have everything ready for this most popular time of year. That done, it’s been nice to go fishing a little more (see above photo). A couple of trips to Hampshire were capped by me christening a new rod with the cracking brownie shown. I do enjoy the excitement of sight fishing to large trout in crystal clear water, the chalk streams were also in good condition for grayling fishing too. So with kit tested we are ready for lift off! I look forward to seeing you waterside this spring.
