Fishing Report for May & Early June 2022

Fishing Reports

A spring brown trout at mayfly time!

May and June are synonymous with the famous Mayfly hatch and fly fishing in general. So it’s no surprise that sport on lake and river has been good, with anglers using a variety of tactics and enjoying success.

On the lakes, lures, nymphs and dry flies have scored in appropriate conditions, with top flies being buzzers, mayfly nymph, white lures, damsel nymph and beetle style dry flies.

River fishing has been dominated by dry fly fishing for us, with warmer weather really bringing on fly hatches and trout feeding at the surface in earnest from the second week in May. Top flies are mayfly dun, emerger and spinner, F fly, shuttlecock, PTN, shrimp.

Life is happily hectic here, with us busy daily on lake and river helping clients improve and enjoy the wonderful sport of fly fishing. Find out how you can join the fun here!
