Fishing Report January 2019

Fishing Reports

big brown trout
Steve with a new PB Stillwater brown trout, showing winter as a great time to chase big trout.

January is a month when we have more time to go fish, so on a “day off” I kicked 2019 off with a new PB brown, sight fishing the lovely Dever Springs fishery in Hampshire. Great fun creeping around looking for fish like this and offering a weighted fly for their inspection. Really pleased with this result.

Our half day lessons are again proving popular for people wanting a new year tune up ready for Spring. This is a really good format allowing you to progress in the morning, with the option to fish PM at no extra charge. Likewise casting lessons are in demand for anyone from complete beginners, improvers and those of you with fishing trips to prepare for later this year. Get in touch for your own personal plan.

In terms of fishing right now, stillwaters have been superb during January. Nymph and lure fishing producing well with excellent opportunities for big fish.

Many clients have already been in touch to reserve spring days on both lake and river. If you have not yet booked, do get in touch to discuss your trip.
