Rob caught this stunning trophy rainbow trout soon after a lesson with Steve. The skills had he learned helped him catch this very special trout!

Fly fishing during January 2016 carried on where December left off, with some superb days. Overall we’ve had good catches this month, despite a very brief visit from a proper winter and the weather being less stable than it had during the latter part of 2015.

The usual mix of nymph and lure patterns have been producing fish. During colder weather, smaller, sparsely tied flies fished slower were the key to success. Brighter days provided better conditions for fish spotting, allowing clients to stalk sighted trout, while a few test fishing sessions for pike proved productive in terms of fish numbers, if not size. As we move into February, I expect some bigger fish to show up!
